StrongFirst Assistant Coach in Italy 2024

Professional Journey to Italy for SFG1 Workshop

My recent journey from Hong Kong to Italy to serve as the assistant coach for the SFG1 workshop was an extraordinary experience that transcended mere professional development. This opportunity allowed me to engage in a meaningful cultural exchange while learning from the esteemed Master Fabio and collaborating with fellow instructors who share a passion for kettlebell training. Over the course of three transformative days, I gained invaluable insights that have significantly impacted my approach to coaching.

What is Strong?

During my time at the workshop, Master Fabio posed a thought-provoking question: "What is strong?" From my perspective, strength is not solely about physical prowess or the ability to lift heavy weights. To me, being strong means:

  • Empathy: Understanding and connecting with others, recognizing their struggles and triumphs.

  • Giving Back: Using one's skills and knowledge to uplift others, contributing to their growth and well-being.

  • Resilience: The capacity to face challenges and bounce back from setbacks, both in training and in life.

  • Continuous Learning: Embracing the journey of self-improvement and remaining open to new ideas and perspectives.

These elements of strength resonate deeply with my coaching philosophy, emphasizing the importance of nurturing not just physical abilities, but also the mental and emotional aspects of training. By fostering empathy and a spirit of giving back, we can create a supportive community that empowers everyone to reach their full potential.

Key Takeaways from the Experience

  • Learning from Master Fabio: His unparalleled expertise and innovative teaching methods provided a profound understanding of kettlebell training, enhancing my instructional capabilities.

  • Collaboration with Fellow Instructors: Engaging with a diverse group of passionate instructors fostered a rich exchange of ideas and techniques, contributing to a vibrant learning environment.

  • Practical Application: The knowledge and skills acquired during the workshop will be directly applied to elevate the quality of our classes, ensuring a more enriching experience for my students.

Cultural Exchange and Personal Growth

This workshop was not only an opportunity for professional growth but also a celebration of cultural exchange. The interactions with fellow participants from various backgrounds enriched my understanding of different training philosophies and practices. This experience has reinforced my belief in the importance of cultural diversity in the fitness community.

Looking Ahead

As I return to Hong Kong, I am eager to implement the insights gained and share these experiences with my students. This workshop has not only enhanced my skills as an instructor but has also inspired me to continue evolving in my practice of kettlebell training. I look forward to fostering a deeper connection with my students through the techniques and philosophies I've learned, promoting both physical fitness and cultural appreciation.
